Writing Her Story
Many years ago, my grandmother’s handkerchiefs and gloves were bequeathed to me. Recently I’ve been inspired to write her story – to ‘fill in the blanks’. She died before I was born and I knew very little about her life and hopes an dreams. Working with needle and thread and only a few photographs and anecdotes, I have now created a curious and tender relationship with her.

Let Us Sit Down Together at the Table of Peace With Those We Love and Those We Fear
These pieces are formed with plaster gauze and covered with beeswax, as metaphors for healing, safety and protection. Photos of leaves from my Russian olive tree are worked into the surfaces. The challah bread is formed from a flour, salt and water dough.
